An intercultural inclusion project that promotes reforestation as a space for connection, environmental education, and stronger social ties between Indigenous communities and the wider population.

Intercultural Inclusion was created with the purpose of protecting nature through reforestation, using this activity as an opportunity for connection between Indigenous communities and residents of Costa Rica's Northern Region.

The project combines environmental action with social and cultural education, promoting respect, inclusion, and mutual learning among people from different backgrounds, age groups, and institutions.

Reforestation serves as a common thread, helping to raise environmental awareness, strengthen community relationships, and create opportunities for intercultural dialogue.

The first edition of the project took place on October 30, 2019, with approximately 110 participants and representatives from the Boruca, Ngöbe, and Maleku Indigenous peoples.

The event also received support from several public institutions, social organizations, and community groups, bringing together a collective experience of significant social and environmental value.

This project is envisioned as a driving force for future initiatives that promote more inclusive and sustainable development, not only in the Northern Region but throughout the country.
